For the past few years, we have added this series of books to our morning basket. Our morning basket consists of our easy reading program (that I can’t wait to do a post about!), read alouds, and our favorite children’s bible. The “What Your ______ Grader Needs to Know” books have been the most all-inclusive baseline I have been able to find. Whenever something sparks an interest, we head to the library to dig further. The only thing I could hope for is that this resource would go higher than 6th grade by the time we need it!
We, of course, simply use this as a supplement. If you were doing some travelling during the school year, this would be great to take along instead of lugging around a ton of individual books.
All major subjects are covered: Math, Science, History, Music, Geography, Art, Literature, and Grammar.
In addition to these books – we have two being read at once for our different levels – we throw in Teaching Textbooks for math, Apologia for science, educational videos on Netflix, and the Complete Curriculum series by Flash Kids. And of course, I like to sprinkle in some of my interactive notebooks for our read alouds for good measure.
